Abstract
This study aimed to find factors that affect the happiness of mothers with disabled children.
First, in this study, I classified the factors and each factor has classified sub-factors.
I defined happiness as self-realizing and multilateral concept including quality of life, subjectiveness. I came to a conclusion that factors affecting happiness are emotion regulation, meaning of life, social support, self esteem and parent efficacy.
Based on this conclusion, I conducted a survey divided into two researches. First research was an exploratory research and the second one was a qustionnaire. In the exploratory research, I surveyed 81 people and measured emotion regulation, meaning of life, social support, self esteem and parent efficacy which are the factors based on the results of this study. From the result of this survey, I found that the items used in the survey were identified the same as the items used as a measurement tool of happiness of mothers with disabled children. So I used the same research tool for the questionnaire. For the measurement of emotion regulation, I used Korean emontion dysrregulation, produced originally by Grats and Roemer(2004) and translated by Yongrae Jo(2007). For measurement of meaning of life, I used the meaning of life measurement tool by Steger, Rrazier, Oishi and Kaler(2006), validified by Kyohyun Kim and Kyunson Jung(2005). For social support measurement, I used one made by Jiwon Park(1985) and lastly for the self esteem measurement I used one produced by Rosenberg(1965) and translated by byungjae Jyun. On the second research, I analyzed 141cases and concluded that the key factors for mothers¡¯ happiness are emotion regulation and meaning of life. Therefore, the program for improving happiness of mothers with disabled children should focus on emotion regulation and meaning of life.
